Stephen Ministry

The Impact of Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is recruiting persons interested in becoming a Stephen Minister. The qualifications are simple — a compassion ate heart and a willing spirit. God provides the rest. The following are two reflections written by current Stephen Ministers about the impact the ministry has had on their lives.

People tend to share their life stories with me. I feel blessed that perhaps God has helped me through Stephen Ministry to see this as one of my ministries.

Stephen Ministry has opened my eyes to how limited I am to help others and how limitless God is in His ability to heal. It is a privilege to see His hand work so intimately in another person’s life. Their relationship with their Creator is deepened and my view of Him is expanded. What a great and powerful God we serve!

Stephen Ministries Website
Sometimes It's Hard to Ask for Help
We're brought up to be strong, self-sufficient, independent people. We tend to think that if we ask for help, it is a sign of weakness. So we try to keep our struggles hidden, stuffed deep inside. However, that's not God's plan. Galatians 6:2 says "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." God wants us to care for others — and allow others to care for us in our time of need.

If you're sad or struggling inside, don't suffer alone. Ask for help. We've got a team of Stephen Ministers who are ready to listen, care, encourage, pray, and help you through a tough time. (It's confidential too!) Find out more about Stephen Ministry by talking with one of our Stephen Leaders: Sally Clark, Janelle Johnson, Char Mullin, or Fran Schrunk.

Our Stephen Ministers are there to care!

Faith Community Nurse

Fran Schrunk, R.N.
"The Faith Community Nurse is responsible for the general education of the church members regarding health and health issues in addition to the coordination and scheduling of other related activities for the church and sometimes the community.

Care for all the people of God is part of the church's mission. A Faith Community Nurse cares for the whole person - mind, body and spirit. The New Testament tells us that Jesus sent out his disciples telling them to preach the kingdom of God and also to heal the sick. (Luke 9:2)

This is a fun and exciting job. The people I serve have so much to offer and it adds to my spiritual growth. I hopefully communicate to the congregation the importance of health of mind, body and spirit and help them achieve that health."
