What We Believe

  • We believe in community.  We believe in being a church where progressive and inclusive Christianity is practiced and preached. Our congregation is part of the Reconciling Ministries Network, which means that we are open to all people, including those of the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • We believe in science.  We are a thinking congregation. We depend on our United Methodist tradition of looking at scripture, tradition, reason, and experience as avenues in which we shape and grow our faith.
  • We believe in God's unconditional love and grace. We affirm the dignity and worth of every person as created in the image of God, and proclaim God's unconditional love and grace for every person. We commit to creating a safe space for fellowship, learning, and worship for everyone, because here at Asbury, All Means All.

Our Welcoming Statement

Asbury United Methodist Church proclaims God's unconditional love and grace and affirms the dignity and worth of every person as created in the image of God. We commit to creating a safe space for fellowship, learning, and worship for all people.

Therefore, Asbury welcomes into the life, leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, and sacraments all persons regardless of age, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic circumstances, marital status, family structure, and physical or mental ability.

In the spirit of "All Means All," we recognize among us differences in theology and biblical interpretation, and we covenant to accept, learn from, respect, and love one another along our faith journeys.
