Asbury Advocates
What is an "Advocate"?
In the gospel of John we read: "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you." (John 14:26)
In the early church the Holy Spirit was sometimes called "the Advocate." "The Advocate" was the living presence of the Holy Spirit that could teach the faith and change lives. As "Asbury Advocates" we can be the living spirit of Asbury Church that reminds many generations of all that God has said to us through our worship, study and ministry as a church that …lives and shares the love of Christ!
An "Asbury Advocate" is anyone who has included Asbury United Methodist Church in their estate plans. When you let us know that you have designated Asbury Church as part of your will or trust, designated Asbury Church as the beneficiary of insurance or IRA Funds, or purchased a Charitable Gift Annuity; and, have given us permission to use your name, you will become one of a growing list of "Asbury Advocates."

How can I put Asbury United Methodist Church in my estate plan?
1. By making a will or trust. Consult with your attorney about the possible ways of including Asbury Church in your will or trust document.
2. By purchasing a charitable gift annuity. These pay a guaranteed income for life and also qualify for a substantial income tax deduction in the year of the gift. Following the death of the donor(s), the gift remainder will support the needs of Asbury.
